A student asks an astronaut a question.

We all know kids love to ask questions, but very few get an opportunity like this.

A select group of students at Elliot Ranch Elementary school in Elk Grove had the chance to ask a question live to an astronaut onboard the International Space Station.

Astronauts Reid Wiseman and Steve Swanson answered the questions for the 12 students, with inquiries ranging from what is visible in space, to how you pass the time to training for unforeseen circumstances.

Elliot Ranch is only one of two elementary schools in the entire nation to have the Q&A opportunity. A parent at  the school submitted an application more than a year ago.
