Local artist Adrienne Lewis was commissioned by a group urging Hillary Clinton to run for president to paint a portrait of the former secretary of state and first lady.
Lewis says her popularity exploded after her friend posted a painting she had done of a dog on Reddit. Within just a few hours, thousands of users on the site voted the image to the front page.
In the following weeks, Lewis says she had hundreds of emails and phone calls about her portraits.
One such email came from Hillary PAC.
Lewis, who was living in Colorado at the time, flew to California to craft the painting and ultimately relocated to Sacramento.
She was one of nine artists selected to paint a portrait of the potential presidential candidate.
"I think that Hillary Clinton possibly running for president is an exciting thing," Lewis said. "Being a part of it in some small way is exciting for me."
With her new-found popularity, Lewis has put her nursing career on hold to paint full time.
