Boy, 6, Attacked by Mountain Lion Hiking in Bay Area

CUPERTINO-

A 6-year-old boy was attacked by a mountain lion Sunday afternoon near Cupertino, according to the Department of Fish and Wildlife.

The boy was said to be hiking with a large group along the Picchetti Ranch Zinfandel Trail when the animal attacked.

According to Fish and Wildlife, the cat started to drag the boy into the bushes by his head and neck before two men from the group scared it off. The boy was carried back down the trail, where help was called.

Wildlife officials were still looking for the mountain lion as of Monday morning.

The boy is expected to recover.
