King Fire Containment Up to 84%

The King Fire has burned through 97,099 acres of El Dorado and Placer county wildlife since being ignited exactly two weeks ago. However, officials say a big step forward has been taken towards total containment.

According to Cal Fire, the King Fire is now 84% contained today. This marks a jump of nearly 20% from Friday morning.

So far, the King Fire has destroyed 80 structures — 12 of those residences.

Also announced was a route closure by the Tahoe National Forest. This includes Mosquito Ridge Road, Forest Service Road 22, Western States Trail and Tevis Cup Trail.
