The couple who created and completed a bucket list for their unborn child, who they learned was going to have a brief life because of a rare brain condition, announced the arrival of their baby boy.

Jenna and Dan Haley announced on their Facebook page their baby boy, Shane, was born at 2:25 a.m. Thursday.

Then came the expected, but no less devastating, update at 6:15 a.m.: “after meeting his entire family and being baptized into the Catholic faith, baby Shane died peacefully in his Mother’s arms”.

While Jenna was pregnant, the couple learned their child had a rare, complex brain condition called anencephaly. The life expectancy of babies with the condition ranges from hours to days.

Knowing this, Jenna and Dan created a “bucket list” so their baby could experience as much as he could while in the womb. More than 600,000 followers on Facebook received updates on the couple, and Thursday’s announcements.
