The soccer club that has taken Sacramento by storm will soon have officials en route to New York City - eying a much bigger stage.

Mayor Johnson, as well as the investors lined up to move the club up to Major League Soccer, will be representing Sacramento Republic FC in New York. This is the first face to face meeting for the club and the commissioner of Major League Soccer.

MLS officials met with Republic FC in Sacramento back in September when the officials made there way out to the west coast to get a feel for the city.

The league's commissioner, Don Garber, could not make the trip to Sacramento, so now Mayor Johnson is taking the party to him.
