HUGHSON-

Some local high school students are in hot water after an alleged hazing incident.

Details are limited at this time but we do know the school district and the sheriff's department are looking into what may have happened with the school's football team.

"It seems like they’re trying to keep it secret. Whatever is going on," student Michael Desilva said.

The students and parents of Hughson High School said they’ve been left in the dark about an alleged hazing incident involving some of the school's football players.

"We have a pretty quiet community here," parent Bryan Holtzclaw said.

Sources told FOX40 that some of the players physically assaulted a teammate. The unconfirmed details are graphic and alarming.

"Yeah, they get rough with each other but, you know, it’s probably the football team," Desilva said. "Probably took it too far this time," Desilva's friend, Brian, added.

We reached out to to Hughson Unified School District as well as the Stanislaus County Sheriffs Department. Both agencies could only confirm they were investigating. Sheriffs Deputies said simply -- this is not a rape case.

The School District told us over the phone, "We are aware an incident occurred but we want to get all the facts and take action based upon those facts."

As details of the alleged hazing come to light students are speaking out.

"Hazing ain't right, that’s a definite," Desilva said.

Sheriffs deputies told FOX40 they are not releasing any information at this time.
