VACAVILLE-

A teenage girl is now facing a murder charge in connection with the death of a Vacaville High School football player last month.

Demetrious Ward was found shot in the head in the parking lot of an apartment complex in Vacaville on October 6.

Kai Hughes, 18, was arrested Monday in Citrus Heights. She was booked into the Solano County jail for one count of murder.

The other suspect, 20-year-old Alijondro Jones was arrested last week, and faces charges of murder, attempted robbery and violation of probation.

Investigators say Hughes arranged a drug deal with Ward and went with him to the apartment complex on October 6. She is accused of providing information that helped Jones carry out the robbery.

Jones approached Ward in the parking lot with the intent to rob him of a small amount of marijuana. During the robbery, Ward was shot.

Ward played football for Vacaville High School, the team honored him at their October 11 game.
