A south Sacramento landlord was arrested alongside her sister Monday for allegedly stabbing a tenant to death.

Neighbors say it was over a $50 dispute.

Former tenant Brandy Vaughn tells FOX40 the home off of Stevenson Avenue was advertised on Craigslist as a women's home.

"You know, like a place to go and get you back on your feet," Vaughn told FOX40 Tuesday.

Investigators say landlord Monica Njoku brought her sister, Taiish Simon, and a large man to the house Sunday to confront one of the tenants. When a male tenant stuck up for the other tenant, investigators say he was stabbed to death.

"I knew she would go this far maybe with blows, but never with someone losing their life," Vaughn said.

Vaughn says she was paying just $400 a month to live in the house before she moved out earlier this month, fearing it wasn't a safe environment anymore for her or her 3-year-old son.

"I just wanted to leave," she said. "I didn't want to be in a violent situation with my disabled child."

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department arrested Njoku and Simon on murder charges.

Both denied our requests for a  jailhouse interview.

Investigators say the third  male suspect is still at large. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Sheriff's Department.
