CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va (WTVR)— A grandmother and her family were able to escape their burning car on an Interstate highway in Virginia.

The fire closed northbound lanes of I-95 for about an hour Tuesday morning.

Video taken at the scene showed the car burning along the side of the highway. An explosion and flash of fire can be seen in the footage.

Witness Suzie George said she and other drivers saw the cardriving down the interstate while on fire. They signaled the driver, a 51-year-old grandmother, to pull over. The grandmother, her two grandchildren, and her 21-year-old daughter-in-law all made it out of the burning car unharmed.
