Light Rail Train Hits Pedestrian in Rancho Cordova

A man was hit by a light rail train Monday afternoon in Rancho Cordova, according to the Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 3 p.m. at the corner of Folsom Boulevard and Routier Road along the Gold Line.

Officers on scene reported the man had died. Headphones were found nearby.

Train passengers were taken by bus to the Mather Field station for a short time before rail service resumed just before 5 p.m.

The crash happened about mile down the Gold Line from where Rancho Cordova High School student Mariah Burgess was struck and killed by a train while walking home from school.
