A dozen families in Sacramento have a secret Santa.

A customer told FOX40 their layaway purchase was paid off by an anonymous contribution. Turns out, they weren’t the only ones.

The Toys R Us on Arden Way says a man came in to their store this month, but he wasn’t shopping for himself. Instead, he offered to pay off layaway orders of other people. He paid off about 15 layaway orders, at a cost of more than $1,000.

“That’s a wonderful thing that’s happening, that they’re doing for people. It really is. A lot of people need help this time of the year,” Abel Cardenas, a Toys R Us shopper said.

Store employees told FOX40 they weren’t too surprised. They say a “secret Santa” comes in just about every year to help out a few families with their toy orders. They said it’s usually not the same person every time.
