Expect light showers across Sacramento between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.  Total rainfall will be very light, with .10 inch expected for most Valley locations.

The storm will be a little more productive in the Sierra, where a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from Noon to 8 p.m. above 4,000 feet.

With 3 to 6 inches of new snow accumulating across the major highways and passes, chains will be necessary for anyone attempting to make the drive Wednesday afternoon and evening.

By 10 p.m. Christmas Eve night, this fast-moving storm will have moved out of the area.
