Frustrated neighbors and friends gathered in Sacramento Tuesday to support an 83-year-old woman being evicted from her home.

Dorothy Morris says her landlord is retaliating against her, after a dispute over the heater in her unit at the Sacramento Manor Senior Apartments. Residents of the building protested Tuesday on her behalf.

Her landlord recently decided they would no longer accept Section 8 housing, and told Morris she needed to move. It’s unclear when she was given notice to leave. But last week, a judge issued a directed verdict, said Morris had until January 2 to leave the apartment.

“The landlords are sick, they are crooked, they are underhanded, they are just trying to make money,” Morris said.

FOX40 reached out to the landlord at Sacramento Manor, and they said they had no comment. Their lawyers have not returned our inquiries.
