A flight leaving Sacramento destined for Honolulu for Christmas had an unexpected layover in Oakland Christmas Eve.

Flight 19 left Sacramento at its scheduled time Wednesday, then was forced to land in the Bay Area around 11:30 a.m.

The plane sat on the ground at Oakland International Airport for about 2 and a half hours before taking off for Hawaii.

Hawaiian Airlines would only say the plane experienced maintenance issues in the air and needed to land.
