The circumstances surrounding a mother of two who has not been seen since going for a New Year's Day walk, are being called suspicious by police.

Stockton Police say Carolina Adkins has never walked away from her family before.

On Saturday, family members, including Adkins' husband, Joe Shepard, talked about the last time they saw Carolina.

“I’ve been sitting on the couch waiting and waiting, looking through the window, waiting for her to come home and she has not come back. I’m just really worried about her,” Shepard said on Saturday.

Shepard says their family celebrated New Year's Eve together at their home in the Mariner's Point Apartments off Hammer Lane. Around 1 a.m., as he went to bed, he says Carolina put on her jacket and said something about going into the living room.

That, he says, is the last time he saw her.

Carolina left behind their two children, who were sleeping. She also left her purse, cell phone and wallet.

Anyone with information about her whereabouts, please contact Stockton Police.
