Police officers in Stockton have shot and killed a suspected prowler they say charged them with a knife Tuesday.

According to police, the man forced himself into a group home on Howard Street near South Stockton Street.

Responding officers asked the man to surrender, according to the police department. When he didn't, police say the officers used a Taser on him.

Police said the man stabbed a K-9 officer at one point. The dog is expected to be O.K.

Investigators say the man then charged the officers with a knife, and was shot and killed.

Police will continue to investigate the shooting.
