3 Firefighters Injured in South Sacramento House Fire

SOUTH SACRAMENTO-

Two firefighters were rushed to the hospital after becoming trapped in the basement of a burning home Monday morning. A third firefighter is being treated for smoke inhalation.

Around 6:30 in the morning, neighbors called after seeing smoke coming from a home along 22nd Avenue, near Stockton Boulevard.

Multiple crews of Sacramento City firefighters responded to the home. Units went into the basement to find where the fire was burning, when there was a 'mayday' call.

Two firefighters were trapped in the basement. They were rescued by fellow firefighters, as flames engulfed the home.

The homeowners were not there at the time of the fire.

The two firefighters who were trapped have burns, and are being treated at UC Davis Medical Center. Sacramento City Fire identified the injured firefighters as Gary Pimentel, Adam McKahan and Alex Galang.

All three were said to be in good condition at UC Davis.
