Landlord Allegedly Spied on Renters, Hid Camera in Clock Radio

RICHMOND, Virginia (WTVR)-

A landlord is accused of placing a hidden camera in one of his apartments, and allegedly checking to make sure it stayed plugged in.

A man has filed a $1.3 million lawsuit against Tomas Arnaiz, who he subleased an apartment from in 2012. According to WTVR, the lawsuit claims a clock radio contained a hidden camera with a memory card.

The clock radio was included in the fully-furnished home.

The victim and his girlfriend became aware they were being secretly recorded in various stages of undress, while using the bathroom and during intimate moments.

The couple discovered the hidden camera when they noticed the clock radio, that had previously been unplugged, had several times been re-positioned and plugged back in.

The video and pictures allegedly were downloaded to Arnaiz computer, according to WTVR's reporting. Police recovered hours of recordings, according to Richmond, Virginia police who arrested Arnaiz.

He faces several charges, including unlawful filming of a minor because the victim's girlfriend was 18 at the time of the recording.
