Citrus Heights Police Open Fire on Armed Man in Park

Citrus Heights Police opened fire on a reportedly armed man Thursday night at C-Bar-C Park.

Police showed up to the park after a man’s family reported that he had taken medication and went to the park with a gun. Officers were told the man was suicidal.

When officers arrived at the park, and found the man, they tried to talk to him. According to Citrus Heights Police, the man did not comply with officers’ requests, and a short time later, the events escalated and officers fired their weapons multiple times.

The man was hit, and rushed to a hospital. He was treated, and released a short time later. No officers were injured in this incident.

Officers say they found the man’s gun at the scene.
