Sixteen students at Florin High School have tested positive for tuberculosis.

According to Sacramento County health officials, 155 students and staff at the school were tested for the disease as of Friday. Tests began after a student was diagnosed.

Technicians will re-test students who tested negative after eight to 10 weeks.

“TB is treatable. It is a very serious disease but it is very treatable especially when the person takes the treatment early,” Sacramento County Health Officer Dr. Olivia Kasirye on Monday.
