An exhibit honoring California Chrome, the hero horse of Yuba City, will open at the California Museum in Sacramento this May.

The exhibit will feature items from the personal collections of Perry Martin and Steve Coburn, the horse’s owners.

California Chrome, known sometimes as “the people’s horse” won the 2014 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, but fell short of becoming a Triple Crown winner after losing the Belmont Stakes.

He was named the 2014 Horse of the Year.
