Placer County Sheriff's deputies say "an historic" moose head was stolen from a North Lake Tahoe restaurant and lodge.

The head was taken sometime between midnight and 7 a.m. on Jan. 22 from Sunnyside, investigators said Tuesday.

Owners "greatly miss" the head, the Sheriff's Office said.

Anyone with information about where the moose head may be is asked to contact Detective John Lasagna at (530) 581-6323.  The Sheriff's Office is offering a $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
