Water spewed into the air after a truck accidentally struck a fire hydrant Sunday night.

Around 9 p.m., the truck collided with the hydrant near 47th Avenue and 47th Street. The collision sheared the hydrant and caused a water main break, causing water to shoot dozens of feet into the air.

The water geyser created a traffic hazard and required attention from the CHP.

After just over two hours, crews were finally able to turn the gushing water off.
