Corey Hawkins became the first UC Davis Men’s Basketball player to be named All-American by the Associated Press. The organization selected him to its Honorable Mention list on Monday.

In the basketball program’s 104-year history, only Hawkins and Dante Ross have earned All-America accolates, according to UC Davis Athletics. Ross earned 4th team recognition in 1998, and 2 second team selections in 99 from other media outlets.

Hawkins was also the Aggies’ first-ever Big West player of the Year, and led the program to their first-ever Big West Championship.

Hawkins captured his second league scoring title in the last three seasons in 2015, in addition to receiving All-District IX awards from the U.S. Basketball Writers Association, and National Association of Basketball Coaches. He earned additional All-America honors when he was named a finalist for the Lou Henson Award, an award presented o the best Division 1 mid-major player in the country.

Hawkins will return to the court on Thursday as one of six sharpshooters who will vie for this year’s collegiate 3-point crown, during the State Farm Slam Dunk and 3-Point Championships.
