Rare Aircraft Takes to the Skies Over Sacramento

It’s trial by fire. This is the maiden voyage of Amelia Airship, one of six Geta-Flug thermal airships in the United States.

It's a cross between a dirigible and a hot air balloon.

It belongs to "Cheers Over California”, a business that's literally full of hot air.

Pilot and owner David Wakefield and his wife went to Achen, Germany to buy it.

It boasts 135 feet in length and over 50 feet in height, bigger than even the MetLife blimp. It's being used for the same purpose, to advertise, right now a blank yellow billboard in the sky.
