Fairfield Police say a person of interest in Monday's alleged car theft and kidnapping, which prompted an AMBER Alert, is in custody.

Officers said the man was already in custody for unrelated charges, and was being interviewed by detectives that afternoon.

A silver Toyota Corolla was stolen Monday morning as an 8-year-old was sleeping in the back. The boy's parents were letting the car warm up.

The boy was found a short time later, safe and unharmed.
