The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department is implementing new water saving measures, on the heels of state regulators imposing strict water rules.

The department has cut its car-washing days by two-thirds, and added bumper stickers asking people to pardon the dirt.

Additionally, county jail inmates have new water-saving rules. Shower time will be limited, and toilets and faucets should only be used when necessary.
