SAN FRANCISCO (AP) —

Authorities have identified the San Francisco Bay Area father who has been missing for two days with his two young children after failing to return home from a camping trip to the Sierra.

The Sierra County Sheriff’s office identifies the 41-year-old father as Nicholas Vlahos. He is traveling with his 5-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter.

The family was due home Tuesday. They were last seen leaving a campsite in their 2014 Black Toyota Tundra pickup truck, after camping with other family members.

KNTV in San Jose reports Vlahos is co-owner of a popular barbershop in North Oakland.

Police say the family planned to drive through a remote and rugged portion of Sierra and Plumas counties on their return trip home. Authorities have been searching since Tuesday.
