The Sacramento Police Department is continuing to investigate the death of a child at a home on Mack Road near Meadowview.

Calls for help for an unresponsive little girl brought police out and prompted crime scene tape to go up in Sacramento's Brookwood Mobile Home Park.

"It's sad. I have children of my own. It's horrible," said Kim, through tears as she cried about what's happened at her neighbor's home.

Kim and others are mourning the life of a child they say was surrounded by strange activity in recent weeks -- coming and goings from the house in question at all hours of the night.

"It's just so weird," said Kim, who only wanted to share her first name.

Police aren't confirming anything illegal was happening at the home where parents desperately dialed 911 about 2:20 p.m. Tuesday.

"We're conducting interviews. They're very cooperative and we're conducting a death investigation at this point," said Sacramento Police Officer Justin Brown.

Brown said the young girl who died had pre-existing medical issues and that one of three adults who lived at her home tried to give the little girl some kind of medical help before firefighters arrived.

"There were no obvious signs of trauma to the child. It's unfortunate a child has to die. I definitely understand because I have children myself. It hits home for everyone," Brown said.

As of 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, no one had been arrested in connection with what happened to the little girl.

Officers aren't releasing her name or age.
