Detectives say the victim in Thursday’s shooting in Newcastle was the suspect’s father.

According to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office, 58-year-old Carlo Yandolino was killed in his home by his son, 25-year-old Robert, who also assaulted a ranch worker.

Robert Yandolino was arrested later Thursday after a standoff with officers in a Rocklin apartment complex. Nearby Whitney High School was put on lockdown during the standoff.

Robert Yandolino was booked into jail on murder and attempted murder charges.
