Four people were detained in connection with an alcohol theft investigation at a Cameron Park CVS on Friday.

A CVS employee flagged down an El Dorado County sheriff’s deputy regarding a theft in progress. The employee pointed toward a man standing next to a red Mitsubishi Eclipse in the parking lot and told the deputy the man was stealing alcohol.

When the man, who was accompanied by three other people, saw the deputy, he quickly got into his car.

The deputy was able to contact the group. All four were detained pending a theft investigation. They have been identified as Samuel White, 21, of Sacramento; Rudolph Beltran, 23, of Sacramento; Jasmine Wasi, 23, of Elk Grove; and a 16-year-old female from Rancho Cordova.

Seven bottles of alcohol were concealed on White’s person, according to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department. The deputy removed a bottle of Crown Royal, a bottle of Elijah Craig, a bottle of Gentleman Jack and four bottles of Smirnoff vodka. The bottles were hidden in his waist band, crotch area and down his pant leg.

While searching the suspect vehicle, deputies found 22 more bottles of alcohol in the trunk. A backpack inside the car also contained several more bottles.

During the investigation, deputies learned the group had formulated plans on how they were going to steal alcohol. They would go into a store with baggy clothing or the backpack, fill their clothes or the backpack with hard alcohol, and unload the stolen property into the vehicle. Once unloaded, they would start again at another store.

Also located inside the backpack was processed marijuana. More marijuana was also found in the glove compartment of the car.

Samuel White and Rudolph Beltran were booked into the El Dorado County Jail on charges of shoplifting and conspiracy. Beltran received an additional charge of possession of concentrated cannabis. Jasmine Wasi was booked on charges of possession of concentrated cannabis. The vehicle was towed and the female juvenile was released to a parent.
