As Stockton police investigate a string of violence in the city, another shooting was reported on Tuesday night.

A robbery attempt turned into a deadly shooting at the Subway restaurant on Hammer Lane near Holman Road about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

A manager at the Subway was closing up the store when he or she was confronted by a gunman.

The manager was shot in the stomach and was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he later died, according to police.

Witnesses say they saw a person running from the restaurant.  No suspect description has been given.

A little more than an hour later, a fight at home on Sonoma Street turned deadly. Investigators say one man was shot, and another was hit in the head with a blunt object. The second victim died later after being taken to the hospital.

Police have not said that Tuesday's violence was related to the string of shootings on Monday night that injured nine people.
