MERCED –

As part of an ongoing investigation, Merced County Sheriff’s deputies uncovered an operation similar to that of a cartel on Thursday, June 4.

Deputies confiscated 420 pounds of finished marijuana, 2.2 pounds of cocaine, 2 pounds of hash, 5 pounds of crystal methamphetamine and 2 handguns.

The deputies believe the seized items have value at approximately $1 million in street revenue.

Warrants were served by Sheriff’s Deputies on Thursday morning at three homes in Delhi located on North Petaluma, Feather Way and August Avenue.

During the warrant services Deputies also found neglected and abandoned dogs at the August Avenue location.

Deputies noticed the dogs had chains so tight around their necks that the chains became fixed in their skin. They were immediately rushed to the veterinarian for treatment.

Eight total suspects were arrested.

Authorities believe additional people may be involved and ask that anyone with information call the Merced County Sheriff’s Department at (209) 385-7445.
