Modesto police are looking for two men who allegedly tried to steal tools from a Modesto Home Depot and then stabbed an employee when he tried to stop them.

Two men walked into a Home Depot on Carpenter Road, took two $150 power tool kits and tried to leave the store without paying for the items, police said.

When an employee asked to see a receipt, one of the suspects stabbed him in the shoulder, police said.

The two suspects fled the area in a light-colored, older-model, four-door vehicle, police said.

Police encourage anyone with information on the identity or whereabouts of the suspects to call Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
