SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Officials at California’s Great America amusement park in Santa Clara say two people were injured in a roller coaster accident.

Great American officials say in a Saturday statement a park employee was struck by a train returning to the station of the Flight Deck roller coaster Friday night. The employee was transported to a hospital with traumatic injuries.

Park officials say a guest riding the coaster reported a hand injury and was taken to a hospital for further evaluation and treatment. A spokesman for the park said he had no other details about accident and the injuries.

The park says the roller coaster will remain closed until the investigation is complete.

Park officials say there is no reason to believe the ride malfunctioned, but that they are working closely with local and state authorities in the investigation.
