Police in Sonora say a teen was seen on surveillance video brutally killing a cat in an apartment complex parking lot.

According to investigators, video shows a red Toyota Celica drive into the parking lot on Greenly Road around 11 p.m. on June 15. A man is seen getting out of the car before he grabs a cat by the tail, swings it over his head and slams it down onto the pavement.

The young man was later identified as 19-year-old Spencer Morse.

Five days later, on June 20, the red Celica was spotted in a Walmart parking lot. There, police say officers found Morse.

Detectives say Morse admitted to killing a cat and said an “unrelated” cat bit his finger a week earlier. He reportedly told investigators he drove to the complex to find the cat.

Morse was booked into jail on a felony charge of cruelty to animals.
