“Look at me, son. I’m talking to you.”

A Sheriff’s lieutenant in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana has some strong words for a man caught on surveillance video breaking into an area grocery store and restaurant.

Lt. Higgins, in one of his regular Crime Stoppers videos for KATC-TV, describes the July 8 burglary of Stelly’s Supermarket and restaurant.

“The food here is good, and the folks are friendly. We’re going to identify you, arrest you and put you in a small cell,” Higgins said, glaring at the camera. “After that, I’m going to have a cheeseburger here, with fries and a Coke, and leave a nice tip for the waitress. Meanwhile, your next meal will be served through a small hole in a cell door.”

Higgins said detectives were able to get DNA evidence on the rock used to smash a window, but predicted an arrest would happen before results would come in.

“You will be recognized,” Higgins said, referencing surveillance video. “The people that know you don’t really like you, anyway. So, when it comes down to a choice between you and $1,000 (reward), they’ll take the cash.”
