Calaveras County Sheriff’s deputies found more than they expected when trying to pull over a car in Burson early Tuesday morning.

Investigators say deputies saw the car cross the double-yellow lines along Pattison Road shortly before 3 a.m. The car pulled into a driveway and lost control into a pot grow, deputies said.

Deputies arrested 37-year-old James Buckley Jr. for failing to yield. Investigators also were able to get a search warrant for the property, which was apparently rented to Buckley.

There, the Sheriff’s Office says investigators found a stolen ATV, a stolen pick-up truck, stolen guns and stolen concrete equipment. Deputies also found Michael Ray Bailey on the property, who was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender.

Buckley was ultimately charged with evading, possession of a firearm by a felon, carrying a loaded firearm with intent to commit a felony, possession of a cane sword, transporting controlled substances, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of stolen property, and possession of a controlled substance for sale.
