On Wednesday, Fairfield police and fire were called to five separate fires in the area of Oliver Road, Beck Avenue and Woolner Avenue. Of the five fires, three were set in dumpsters and two were vegetation fires.

The fifth fire, which was set on the Linear Trail near Beck Avenue, a witness reported to police seeing a suspicious person standing and watching the fire.

Officers contacted the person, later identified as 47-year-old David Loflin, and they believe he started the fire. Investigators also believe Loflin was in the area of the other fires when they were started.

Loflin was arrested on arson related charges. At the time of his arrest, he was found with a lighter and matches in his pockets, police said.

Loflin had also been arrested on Aug. 5 on arson related charges.
