Man Suspected Of DUI After Hitting Fire Engine

FAIRFIELD —

Around 5:45 p.m. Friday Engine 40 was hit by a vehicle while responding to a cardiac call.

The incident happened at the intersection of Barbour and Mankas.

Two firefighters and the the vehicle driver were transported to North Bay Hospital for minor injuries.

The driver who struck the fire engine was taken into custody by Fairfield PD for driving under the influence.

The crash is still under investigation.
