Singe-Car Collision Left 1 Dead, 1 Injured

Friday, a single-car collision in Rancho Cordova left one person dead and the other injured.

Close to 10:45 a.m. on Friday, August 14, a passenger vehicle with two males struck a power pole at the intersection of White Rock Road and Luyung Drive.

Early investigation found the driver was going east on White Rock Road when he lost control of the vehicle and ended up on the westbound side.

Upon impact with the pole the driver was trapped and the passenger was injured.

The driver, Jonathon Long, 26, was removed from the vehicle by emergency responders and transported to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The passenger, another man in his twenties, was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Currently, speed is believed to be a factor in the collision.
