Police say an explosion has demolished part of a Motel 6 in Bremerton, across Puget Sound west of Seattle.

The Kitsap Sun newspaper reports that a gas leak was reported at 8:25 p.m. Tuesday, forcing an evacuation, and an explosion was heard moments later.

Bremerton Police Chief Steve Strachan told The Associated Press there were no initial reports of anyone trapped inside, and just one possible injury. He said someone had reportedly been working on a gas line before the explosion.

A Seattle Times reporter who was at the scene soon after the blast posted a photo on Twitter showing one end of the motel collapsed.
