Placer County’s Oldest K-9 Dies

PLACER COUNTY–

Chopper, the oldest K-9 in Placer County, died Monday, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The dog lived to be 16 1/2 years old and retired in 2011 before working with a plumbing company as truck security.

From 2002 to 2004, Chopper worked at the jail in Auburn as the only certified drug-sniffing dog. Handler and owner Stacey Toy took Chopper through the jail one last time on Monday to say goodbye.

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office made the announcement on its Facebook page Thursday.
