A gun and the body of a man  were the focus of Sacramento police officers as they scoured a Truxel Road parking lot Monday after a fatal shooting.

The man has been identified as 53-year-old Walter Michael Gibson.

Investigators say bullets flew in front of the Natomas Marketplace Home Depot around 8:30 p.m.

At least four evidence markers were placed near what appeared to be shell casings.

A white Toyota sat with both front doors open right next to  the body.

"This does not appear to be a random shooting," said Officer Justin Brown, but he couldn't elaborate on why the deceased man may have been targeted.

Initial reports indicate several cars may have sped away from the scene right after the shooting, but officers were not able to share any concrete descriptions of them.

Nor were they able to clarify the status of a man FOX40's cameras captured being handcuffed and placed in the back of a cruiser within the shooting investigation perimeter.

Small clumps of officers were interviewing witnesses throughout a roped off area about the size of six rows of parking spaces.

Others searched through the potted plant section in front of the Home Depot looking for evidence.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed this shooting in the crowded shopping center parking lot to give them a call.
