Police: Victim Shot At, Dragged by Car in Elk Grove

An unidentified Elk Grove resident was shot at then dragged by a car this morning.

Elk Grove Police Department responded to the 6200 block of Castro Verde Way to reports of a possible shooting. Original reports said the victim interrupted a vehicle burglary when the suspect shot at the victim.

Police later reported that, based on witness information, the shooting was not related to a vehicle burglary. The motive for the incident is unknown.

According to Elk Grove PD, the victim was not struck from the shooting, but was dragged by the suspect’s vehicle as it fled. The victim was taken to a local hospital for non life-threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as an adult black male, approximately 5 foot 9, weighing 230 pounds. He was last seen wearing a purple hoodie and fled in a blue 2002 BMW.
