SACRAMENTO —

Julie Clark, a local aerobatic airshow pilot from Cameron Park, took flight during the California Capital Airshow at Mather Airport tonight.

Clark started her commercial flying career with Golden West Airlines as a first officer and ended it in 2003 as a National Airlines Airbus A320 Captain. She has 40 years of experience and was one of the first female pilots to work for a major airline.

She flies an average of 20 air shows a year in her Beechcraft T-34 Mentor, the only solo air show pilot to fly one because it was built as a military training aircraft.

Clark has flown almost 2,000 performances in 36 years, and received a Crystal Eagle award in 2012. In addition, she was inducted into the Women in Aviation Pioneer Hall of Fame in 2002.
