B Street Theatre kicks off it’s 2015-16 family series with the popular African folktale “Anansi the Spider” about a spider sage storyteller who appears as a man and has many adventures – often getting himself into to trouble but triumphing in the end.

In the B Street Production, the lead of Anansi is played by actress Aja Houston – a twist to the traditionally male driven role. Today, we spoke with Aja, and longtime B Street Theatre member and playwright David Pierini about the play. This production marks the 163rd play written by a B Street staffmember.

The play runs Oct. 10 through Nov. 8 with shows playing at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. It cost $15 for children and $20 for adults. The theatre is located at 2711 B St.
