Suspected Porch Package Thief Arrested in Roseville

ROSEVILLE —

A Roseville man is under arrest after an alert neighbor spotted him allegedly taking a delivered package from a porch and riding away on a bicycle, police said.

A resident of Portmarnock Way called the Roseville Police Department about 12:40 p.m. Monday with a description of the suspect and the direction he was headed.

Within 15 minutes, officers stopped a bicyclist in a nearby apartment complex and retrieved the stolen package, police said.

Mitchell Eugene Ferrua, 29, of Roseville, was booked into Placer County Jail on suspicion of possessing stolen property.

Roseville police say they have seen an increase in package thefts this week.
