Fatal House Fire Shuts Down Traffic in Citrus Heights

CITRUS HEIGHTS --

A fatal house fire has shut down traffic in Citrus Heights near Sunrise Boulevard Wednesday morning.

The initial call came in around 5 a.m. but when crews arrived it was a fully involved structure fire.

It is reported that the second floor of the home collapsed. Metro Fire has confirmed one fatality and are searching for a possible second victim.

Southbound Sunrise at Oak is currently closed due to the fire. The Citrus Heights Police Department is directing southbound traffic to make a U-turn at Oak.

All northbound lanes are still open. One southbound lane was reopened shortly before 8 a.m. It was not immediately known when the other lanes would be back open.
